Rotary Club of Baton Rouge, Inc. Foundation

Dear Fellow Rotarians:

Your Rotary Club of Baton Rouge, Inc. Foundation was established 22 years ago as a vehicle to support charitable endeavors throughout the Baton Rouge community. Since formation, the Foundation has provided more than 170 grants and scholarships to a wide variety of worthy causes. Grants have ranged in size from $200 to $20,000 and have assisted thousands of Baton Rouge area residents. The total gifts disbursed to date by the Foundation exceed $689,000.

I especially am pleased to report to you that during this past Rotary year, the corpus of your Foundation reached and now exceeds the $1,000,000 mark. These dollars have come from several sources, including regular quarterly and birthday donations from members, baby barrel contributions, the Attic Trash & Treasure Sale proceeds, annual gifts from members and memorial contributions. These sources are quite valuable to the Foundation and have enabled it to increase the assistance that it has rendered since inception.

While, historically, the Foundation has emphasized the funding of youth organizations and educational projects, in more recent times our Foundation has provided assistance to groups that assist persons of all ages. Some of these recipients have included Louisiana Resource Center for Educators, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center and Serve! Baton Rouge.

Adding to the corpus of our Foundation will enable it to increase the assistance that it provides to the citizens of our community, and like any charitable organization, the Foundation constantly is seeking new sources of funding for its good works. In addition to focusing our efforts on being good stewards of the Foundation’s financial resources, your Board of Trustees will spend some of its time during the coming year exploring ways of securing new funding sources. We very much welcome the creative ideas of our Club’s members in this process.

With the generous support of our Club’s members, both financially and intellectually, we shall continue to make Baton Rouge an even better place to live and do business for years to come.

Sincerely,
B. Michael Mauldin

Chair
